The Capital District of Kiwanis International (composed of all the Kiwanis Clubs in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia) was organized on August 29, 1918 with only two clubs. Now, over 100 years later, the Capital District remains active with 7 regions, 20 divisions and over 170 clubs.
What is Kiwanis?
Kiwanis International is a global community of clubs, members and partners dedicated to improving the lives of children one community at a time. Today, we stand with more than 550,000 members from K-Kids to Key Club to Kiwanis and many ages in between in 80 countries and geographic areas. Each community has different needs, and Kiwanis empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the needs of children, such as fighting hunger, improving literacy and offering guidance.
Kiwanis clubs host nearly 150,000 service projects each year.

Great job, Waynesboro Kiwanis Club!Happy birthday to Kiwanis partner Little Free Library! 🥳📚📖 To celebrate, we're resharing one of our favorite Little Free Library stories.
When the Waynesboro Kiwanis Club in Virginia opened three libraries at area schools, it was the perfect opportunity for students to get involved! Club members collaborated with middle school students on a 10-week career exploration program in construction. Then students used their new skills to help Kiwanis members build the libraries. And members of Key Club International help keep the libraries full all year long. A true Kiwanis family project! #KidsNeedKiwanis
